The founders of the Glatorian system had to overcome reluctance on the part of some warriors. Having recently been fighting each other to the death with each other, the idea of fighting in an arena, following rules, and stopping short of killing one's opponent did not sit well with them. To answer this, Tarix wrote the Glatorian Creed1, which explained not only how matches were to be fought, but why the system was needed. It was still referred to by Glatorian as of story year 2009.2
