• Greg was working on writing this book on February 25, 2007. For the sake of variety, he was writing the book backwards. He was already done with the epilogue and was working on the last chapter. Greg believed this would be the most emotionally wrenching BIONICLE book he had ever done. He purposely wrote a vague description for Scholastic to use so they would not give away major plot points ahead of time.⁴ Greg wrote the book backwards as a way of giving himself a new challenge and to avoid getting into a rut of churning out books automatically. Greg knew how it ended and started, but not what happened in the middle, and that is what he was trying to figure out.⁵
• Greg was about halfway done writing as of March 10, 2007, at which point he was writing a Makuta-Hydraxon fight.⁶
• As of March 19, 2007, this book was planned to be released in stores in December 2007.⁷
