Kraahu

Kraahu were a specialized version of Vahki designed by Nuparu for use against Rahi stampedes and in other emergencies.1 They were built in Po-Metru.2

Notes

The Kraahu had one major advantage over the standard Vahki model. Unlike the Vahki, which had a centralized intelligence mechanism, a Kraahu's clockwork knowledge centers were scattered throughout its body. This allowed the Kraahu to split apart and for its various pieces to function independently. When intact, the Kraahu could emit clouds of stun gas. Split apart, each Kraahu piece carried an electrical charge that was triggered on contact. Kraahu were normally dispatched to deal with large numbers of Rahi on the loose.3

A variation of Kraahu stun gas was used in the stasis tubes which kept Rahi in suspended animation in the Archives.4

When there was a danger too great for any Vahki squad to meet, Metru Nui relied on two ultimate Vahki machines for protection: the Kranua and the Kraahu. Since the Kranua was an extremely specialized Vahki model, it was called into action less often than the Kraahu. Unlike the Vahki, who had a central mechanism governing their intelligence, the Kraahu's knowledge centers were scattered throughout its body. The advantage of this was that the Kraahu could actually split apart and send its individual pieces to act independently. This allowed it to challenge multiple foes by sending all six legs off in six different directions, while its other components monitored the area and defended against attacks. As a single unit, the Kraahu was capable of sending out clouds of stun gas. Kraahu parts gave off a powerful electrical charge when touched.5
