The cliff screecher was a vicious Rahi breed native to Odina.1 It was a batlike creature which, according to legend, was effectively immortal because its spirit was housed somewhere other than its body. It loosed a loud screech when it attacked and seemed to delight in knocking potential prey down a mountain, scooping it up, bringing it back to the cliff face, and knocking it down again. Its victims would eventually die of fear and shock.2
Notes
The cliff screecher was one of the few native species to survive Odina's occupation by the Dark Hunters. It was a batlike creature. Odina's native inhabitants attached a rich mythology to this creature, claiming that it was incapable of dying because its spirit was housed somewhere other than its body. When hungry or irritable, the cliff screecher attacked anything attempting to scale its cliffs, preceding its dive with the loud screech for which it was named. After knocking its victim off the rock face, it would swoop down, catch its prey, and return it to the cliff face, only to knock it off again. It continued to do this until its prey died of shock and fear.3
