An Amaja circle was a circular, ceremonial sand pit used by the Turaga on Mata Nui to tell stories and legends with special stones. In these stories, a smooth, beige stone represented the Great Spirit Mata Nui, and a black, jagged rock like obsidian represented Makuta. The Amaja circle at Kini-Nui was called the Amaja-Nui or simply the Amaja Circle.
