The magnetic shields were a pair of weapons carried by Gahlok-Kal.^{1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7} They could collect, control, and direct magnetism from the earth.^{2, 3, 7} They could be used both defensively and offensively.^{8, 6} They could create a strong, defensive magnetic force field^{1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7} that was strong enough to withstand Tahu Nuva's full power.^{4, 5} The magnetic shields could also be used as a formidable offensive weapon.^{2, 3, 7} They could root an opponent to the ground¹; they were strong enough to pin Lewa Nuva, and not even the Mask of Speed could break him free.¹ The magnetic shields could also be used for a variety of mundane tasks, such as shattering magnetic rock.² The magnetic shields were detachable weapons, but they needed to be connected to Gahlok-Kal to work.^{9, 10, 11}

Since the Bahrag created Gahlok-Kal by mutating an ordinary Gahlok^{12, 13, 14, 15}, the magnetic shields may have originally been water shields. They were presumably destroyed when Gahlok-Kal lost control of its magnetic power, causing it to be crushed by metallic debris.^{16, 17, 6}
