The jungle shield¹, also called the double bladed shield² or simply a shield^{3, 4, 5, 6}, was a weapon used by Gresh. It was a shield with two bladed parts that could be separated and used as two bladed weapons.^{6, 7, 8} This weapon originally had jungle elemental power during the Core War, but it was depleted long before 1 AR.⁹ Gresh was skilled with any weapon but preferred to fight with his shield and Thornax launcher.⁴ Like most Glatorian weapons, it had a core of bone or claw.^{10, 11}

Gresh's jungle shield was heavily damaged when the Skrall overran Tajun.^{10, 11} Mata Nui used the Mask of Life to revert it to pristine condition. According to him, this was possible because it contained once-living bone or claw.^{10, 11, note 1} At the same time, Mata Nui also gave Gresh the elemental power of air. Mata Nui let Gresh think that he was just restoring the weapon's original power, but in reality, he gave Gresh himself the elemental power, and the weapon was just the focus.¹² Before the battle between Mata Nui and Teridax on Bara Magna, Gresh switched to using a different pair of blades that were similar to those of his jungle shield.^{13, 14}
